WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR –  A Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy died late Wednesday afternoon near Aloha when he collided with a vehicle while operating an electric scooter.

The fatal wreck took place on West Baseline Road and Southwest 201st Avenue, prompting a response from deputies shortly after 5:00 p.m.

The circumstances of the event remain under investigation, but preliminary details indicate the deputy was using the scooter to drive home. Responding deputies arrived on the scene to find passersby administering aid to the injured deputy.

First responders pronounced the deputy deceased at the scene despite life-saving measures.
