Narrative
LINN COUNTY, OR – A crash involving two pickup trucks Wednesday night, July 3, near the city of Lebanon claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy and left two men seriously injured.
Oregon State Police said emergency crews responded to the scene on a span of U.S. Highway 20 near milepost 21, southeast of the city, at about 6:17 p.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, the boy was a passenger in a gray Dodge Ram 1500 traveling westbound. At one point, for unknown reasons, the pickup crossed multiple travel lanes before striking a blue Dodge Ram 2500 heading eastbound. The impact caused the gray Dodge Ram to catch fire and then become completely engulfed in flames.
First responders pronounced the boy deceased at the scene.
The drivers, both only described as men, suffered serious injuries, but officials have not disclosed further information about their conditions.
An investigation remains ongoing.
