Narrative

CLATSOP CO., OR – Oregon State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of two young girls last Thursday in southwest Clatsop County.

The accident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. along the Oregon Coast Highway, or US-101, near Cannon Beach.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound Tacoma entered the northbound side of US-101 and collided head-on with a northbound Honda CRV and a Nissan Rogue.

Medics transported two adults from the Nissan to an area hospital with serious injuries. The other two drivers also required hospitalization with serious injuries.

Two girls from the Nissan, ages 12 and 15, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.

Drivers faced significant delays along US-101 in the area of the accident while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
