PORTLAND, OR – One person died Friday when a vehicle struck them along a busy roadway on the north side of Portland.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. on Northeast Columbia Boulevard between North Vancouver Boulevard and Northeast 11th Avenue. This is just south of Columbia Slough and the FedEx Regional Sort Facility.

There’s no word yet regarding the circumstances of the crash, and authorities haven’t released the identified of the deceased pedestrian.

The driver involved in the fatal collision stopped to render aid and speak with police.

Officials closed Northeast Columbia Boulevard in the area of the crash while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
