Narrative

YAMHILL COUNTY, OR – A 57-year-old man died after a crash involving multiple vehicles last Thursday night, June 6, on Highway 153 near north Salem.

Oregon State Police said the incident unfolded on the the westbound lanes near milepost 14, just past Southeast Wallace Road.

An early investigation shows that a 25-year-old Salem resident was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound when an eastbound motorcycle entered the westbound side. In an attempt to avoid a crash, the Toyota driver veered into a nearby ditch and lost control.

Moments after re-entering the roadway, the Toyota collided with a 57-year-old rider, also of Salem, who was operating a Victory CR8 motorcycle.

First responders pronounced the operator of the Victory CR8 deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries.

At this time, no information regarding the first motorcyclist has been released, since the rider fled the scene. An investigation remains ongoing,
